When I love you,
I really fucking love you.
There are no in betweens.
I don’t know what grey is.
My love is black and white.
Stills/photography from video piece "Women’s work", 2014
Women’s work is a video piece (artist response to Hudson’s photography) looking at the idea of oppressed sexuality of a trapped middle aged housewife, looking at the idea of secretly owning sex toys in order to get around this, combining this with the idea of women being kept within the kitchen- often to their own advantage. Inspired by some of my parents friends stories and stories of 1960’s housewives secret dildo collections, hidden from their husbands in underwear drawers.
I love this post; makes me feel liberated but it on the flip side, despondent because this was a woman’s life at one point. Surrounded by the big egotistical business world of men in the fifties and sixties.
So lovely to see some interested commentary on my work!
